Staying safe from bullying on messaging apps

Honesty must never be an excuse for cruelty. Here is how to protect yourself concretely — and how Saraha Mobile is built so abuse doesn't get through.

The golden rule: you have nothing to prove

Receiving a hurtful message is never your fault, and you have no obligation to answer it, understand it or keep it. The three reflexes that work: block, report, talk about it. In that order, and without guilt.

The protection tools on Saraha Mobile

1. The automatic filter

Every message goes through a content filter before being sent, in all 7 languages of the app: hate, harassment and sexual content are refused at the source. The filter runs again on display — forbidden content never leaves our servers.

2. One-tap blocking

You can block any sender from a message, a post, a comment, a story or a profile — even if their identity is hidden. Blocking is resolved server-side: the person can no longer write to you or see your content, without their identity ever being revealed to you, or yours flagged to them. Your blocked list lives in your profile and can be undone anytime.

3. Reports reviewed within 24 hours

Any content can be reported in one tap. Our automatic thresholds do the rest: a sender reported by several people is blocked automatically, a multi-reported account is suspended and reviewed by our team within 24 hours. Zero tolerance: repeat offenders are banned permanently, device included.

When it's serious: help resources

If you face threats, blackmail or repeated harassment, it is no longer just about blocking:

Why an 18+ app

Saraha Mobile is for adults only: the date of birth is verified server-side at sign-up, and underage accounts are refused. It is a deliberate choice — hidden-identity messages require a maturity you cannot expect from a middle-schooler. Our child safety policy is public.
